Subjects of protection

According to the effective legislation, only a device may be the subject of a utility model.

A device shall mean structures and products; blocks, mechanisms or assembly of interrelated elements, blocks, and mechanisms. An invention shall mean the same.

Such technical solutions as a mode, a substance, a biotechnological product for a new purpose shall be excluded from the legal protection as a utility model.
