International protection

The protection of technological solutions as utility models is not granted in all countries.

In many countries, for example in the United States, there is no institute of patenting of utility models.

Patenting technical solutions as utility models is possible in the following countries:

Australia, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Spain, Tajikistan, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.

In some countries it is possible to obtain legal protection not only for a device, but also for a mode as, for example, in Ukraine.

Prior to filing a utility model application in foreign countries, an applicant shall file such application in the Republic of Belarus and inform the patent authority of the intention to patent the invention in foreign countries.
