An invention means a solution of a technical problem, relating to a tangible object (a product) or a mode (process of performance of actions with a tangible object with the help of material means). Protection of a technical problem solution may be carried out either as know-how or an invention.

Each of protection types has its positive and negative sides.

Protection of technical solutions seems more preferable in the form of inventions or utility models. A patent for an invention (a utility model) will grant the exclusive right to its utilization to the proprietor of the patent.
