Term of protection

The certificate of the right to use an appellation of origin is valid for a period of ten years from the date of filing of the application to the patent authority.

The period of validity of the said certificate may be extended for the next ten years by the request of the holder, which must be filed during the last year of validity of the certificate, under the conditions that give the right to use the appellation of origin. The extension may be requested an unlimited number of times.

Upon the request of a holder after the expiration of the period of validity of the certificate, the holder has six months for the extension of validity of the certificate upon the payment of respective patent fees.
